What to Expect: So You're 5 Weeks Pregnant

Without a doubt, a lot of changes happen to a woman and her body when she is 5 weeks pregnant. The first few weeks of pregnancy shows virtually no signs; however when you reach the 5 week mark this is when you may notice the changes. This is also the time when you may realise that your periods are late and find out the exciting news that you're expecting a bub.
If this is your first pregnancy then you may be curious about the changes that are happening. Here are some of the things that are going on in your body at 5 weeks of pregnancy:
Body Changes
Some of the symptoms of pregnancy that you can expect to experience during this time can be tender breasts and belly bloating.  Among these changes you may also experience morning sickness, frequent cramps and fatigue. Women who are 5 weeks pregnant often find themselves unusually tired and it is not uncommon to fall asleep during the middle of the day.
 Your Baby
At five weeks your baby is tiny, infact it is the size of a sesame seed. This is also the time that your baby's heart starts to beat and pump blood. Other bodily organs will also start developing such as the lungs, kidneys, intestines, and pancreas. Your child's nutritional supply will still come from the yolk sac up until the end of the first trimester. Once the placenta is fully mature, it will resume this role.
